Brand Founder

CloudCloth was discovered by chance by founder Catherine, who was suffering from a reactive form of urticaria. No longer able to use regular granular exfoliants, she tried muslin as an alternative way of exfoliating. Catherine decided to see if there were any old British textile mills still operating to see if a quality cotton cloth could be made in the UK. Determined to find a solution, she kept a record of everything she found in a folder, along with boxes bulging with fabric samples. From the very loose weaves of cheese cloth, to a kind of looped cotton poly mix, every avenue was explored. One day, inspired by her grandparents, who both worked in old England cotton mills, a Lancashire factory offered a glimmer of hope; a sixth-generation manufacturer founded in the late 18th century. The owner presented a soft cotton cloth and explained the story behind its use in British skincare many moons ago. It was raised on one side to provide gentle skin cleansing and woven on the other side, offering gentle exfoliation.

It was when she was living in Los Angeles, however, that she met renowned skincare specialist Georgette Klinger, who inspired her to become a facialist; "I became fascinated by the therapeutic side of beauty, studying lymphatic drainage, cranial osteopathy and nutrition.” But it wasn’t until she moved to London that Eve decided to start practising. “I also started to develop a cleanser to be used during my facial. I mixed my own concoctions in yogurt cups using ingredients I remembered from my childhood growing up on a farm: natural ingredients such as hops, clove, eucalyptus and chamomile.” Of course, she’s describing her cult Cleanser Balm.

Neets

I've been using cleansing cloths for over a decade and when I saw these I ordered them last year and haven't looked back since. One side is soft for cleansing and the other side a like textured for exfoliating. So, depending on what my skin is doing I use the side I need. Great value and easy to wash.
