Let’s rewind for a minute to circa 1983, when Jane Wurwand, a tenured, UK-trained skin therapist new to the American ‘aesthetician’ industry recognised that skin and body therapy education was just about non-existent in the US. She quickly discovered that unlike her serious and comprehensive training in the industry in the UK, US students had started their careers under-trained, and worse, under-respected. She knew what had to be done and sprung into action, opening a small classroom under the name The International Dermal Institute (IDI). Today, IDI is considered the international gold standard for postgraduate skin and body therapy training, with 37 locations worldwide.
