What does it actually do?
It prevents wrinkles
Whilst we’re all about growing old gracefully as they say, we totally appreciate for some they want to slow it down. Retinol, at its core not only smoothes your current fine lines and wrinkles, but also minimise the new ones that form.
It brightens dull skin
It exfoliates on a cellular level, revealing brighter, smoother, and, quite literally, newer skin.
It treats acne
It not only regulates oily skin, but also keeps pores from clogging, resulting in fewer blackheads, cysts and pimples.
It fades dark spots
Over time, it'll even out your complexion, fading sun spots, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and dark spots.
The general rule is at night – but there are a few newer ones coming through which could potentially be used as part of your morning routine.
Use after cleansing, a double one ideally and make sure your skin is dry – give yourself five minutes to ‘air dry’.
This isn’t a go hard or go home situation, start with a mild percentage and build up.
Less is more here – always. No more than the tip of your finger. For those of you who patience is totally not a word you know, hear this – you can’t make the process any quicker by adding double the amount (we tried it so trust us).
Always avoid the eyes, the area around the nostrils, corners of the mouth and neck – it will just itch and likely cause redness.
And no matter what - always use an SPF the following morning.
What to expect?
When do I see the results?
Rome wasn’t built in a day – you’ll need at least four weeks, more likely six and remember initially it might only be subtle but in 10 years when everyone’s gasping as you drop the age bomb you’ll be glad you stayed the course.
